is this true in Montgomery County?

I had heard that moco may make a move to change K entrance. Girls would go between ages 5 and 5.5 and boys would start at 6-6.5. I had heard that it would take about 4 yrs to be implemented. Does anyone know if there is any information available about this?

This sounds like a major urban legend in the making!

Like I said. I heard it from someone with a child in moco schools, but have no idea as to it's validity.

No, it is not true, cal the school board if you want to know.

I don't think that would even be constitutional under the Equal Protection Clause.

15:28 - based on something like Gender Discrimination (which was my initial reaction to the original post)?

Also, to the OP, I have a child in MCPS and have heard not a thing. It sounds completely fabricated.

OP here. Thanks. I have no idea where the person I got this from heard it. I was just curious b/c it sounds so odd.

There was a family doctor/psycholgist, Dr. Sax, who I think had a family practice in Poolesville MD which is in Montgomery County. He proposed the idea of boys starting a year later than girls, but soon changed that to promote boys and girls being educated separately.

I don't think he had any influence on MCPS system adopting this idea, but it might be the source of the confusion.

He's pretty well-known: has written "Why Gender Matters", "Girls On The Edge", "Boys Adrfit" and so on.

Not true. However, if it were legal, it would make perfect sense.
