For my kids not into team sports and gaming, I sometimes include a gift that will have some kind of physical activity. Ones that have worked, at least for a little

Bicycle
Skateboard
Helmet and pads
Scooter
Slack line
Roller skates
Corn hole
Horseback riding pass
Sandy Spring Adventure Park passes
Pull-up/hanging bar
Yoga mat and intro class pass
Badminton
Trampoline Park pass

Not successful with mine but YMMV

Roller blades
Pogo stick
Ice skating pass
Pickel ball

These are ideas for kids who actually like sports. PP says her kid doesn’t like sports.

That’s about the age ours started asking for either electronics (new phone, earbuds, BT speakers, accessories) or experiences (a concert, show, day trip, shopping spree to a store we don’t usually frequent with a defined budget and only veto power over the purchase). Not saying that’s what they got….but what they asked for.

The element of “surprise” might be gone but with a little planning/discussion it might be more meaningful/memorable.

Good luck and please report back on your results. ☺️

An experience. A play maybe?

We’ve done concert tickets or show tickets (Six at National Theater or &Juliet at Kennedy Center are good current options, or if you want to go big you could go to NYC for a weekend and see something there.)

But other things my 8th grader wants are books (gift card to a bookstore if you don’t know specific titles), clothes, ridiculous merch from you tubers, and jewelry.

Does she like baking/cooking? Baking decorating sets, a KitchenAid, cookbook?

On a different note, climbing lesson? You said she is not sporty but she might like that...
