It's just 2 of us. But I like a turkey.I want to get a roast turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy.
I make cranberry relish and corn muffins instead of stuffing and maybe baked sweet potato for me DH eats mashed). I used to roast a turkey breast and thighs but it's been years since I could find bone in turkey thighs. I like dark meat, DH likes white. We ordered a pecan pie that will do for Thanksgiving and New Year's. I have gotten catering holiday food from Balduccis in McLean a few times and WF in Arlington also. Any pros or cons? Thanks. |
I haven't done either of these but am considering Wegmans.
Skip both and do Wegmans.
I recommend Wegmans’s and their apple pie and pumpkin pie for dessert.

Wegmans is a store I know people love but I have never tried. Can you say why it's the best choice? It's a farther drive for me
Thanks |
Wegmans 1000%. We’ve done all three and this was the best value and yummiest, too.
We’ve been super pleased with Balducci’s. There is a turkey breast option - which is nice for 4 or fewer (no carcass to deal with)
I think you will spend more time going out to pick this up than just making your mashed potatoes and throwing a small turkey in the oven. Those are the easiest menu items.
If in DC or Maryland, Lia’s/Chef Geoff’s restaurant group has a very good option for pick up. There are 2 or 4 person options.
Thanks. But I don't want to hassle with a raw turkey and my DH likes the unhealthy Baldicci's potatoes better than homemade. I am in Arlington.
We're trying The Fresh Market this year - have done WF and Balducci's and WF was fine but Balducci's was disappointing.
What about Honey Baked Ham? They have Turkey and sides.
We've done both, and I prefer Balducci's. It tastes closer to "homemade" than Whole Foods.
I’m hoping Wegmen’s is better than both. |
Whole Foods isn’t good.
