I have worked for the same company for three years. It's a retail position. I have worked in three different locations. My current manager is a witch. Nobody likes her and many have left. I believe she against me because of my age. She will often say stuff in front of of others of about my age. No other manager has a problem with me.
What should I do? I'm the oldest person working in this position. |
| Raise your concern with HR and then leave. |

The company has shown you what kind of employer they are: believe them!
I would skip HR and just leave when I get a new position. This is based on my experience that bad workplaces protect the staff that stays and YOU are the bad guy. |
Here is the thing. The company knows all of this and they do not care. They have picked the manager over other employees and will continue to do so. HR works for the boss and have no incentive to help you. Find another job before she fires you. It is only a matter of time. |
People over 40 are a protected class. You should start documenting these instances and visit the Ask A Manager site, she has good advice from labor lawyers on this subject. |

This isn't a quirky comedy movie where the main character gives the villain their comeuppance and everyone lives happily ever after.
Either find a new job or begin the dull task of documenting everything. When you do submit this to her boss, expect retaliation of some sort. Look into new jobs while doing this. |
| Sorry about this OP. The thing about retail is it us much harder to get managers than associates. The managers work 70 hours a week and every holiday. HR knows this and will believe anything the managers tell them. |
