Hello
My child is currently in 3rd grade with an Advanced Academic Program (AAP) principal placement. He scored 141 on the CogAT last year (taken in 2nd grade). His i-Ready scores this fall are 99 in math and 86 in reading. Does he have a chance of getting into the AAP program permanently? |
I don't think anyone really has data on who gets in on appeal. If he does well this year and you reapply with solid samples and a compelling argument it would seem he has a good chance. |
Just apply |
I would make sure that on the application you have proof that he is thriving in this environment and confirmation from his teacher that the hope form will be all positive things. |
What was his cogat verbal section score? |
I'd like to see his reading to be at least above 90%, ideally 95%+ to be safe. I am not saying there is no child in AAP that has 86%, but it's not reassuring. |
Verbal 92
Q 99 Non V 99 |
And forgot add something his first language not English and he was in ESOL last year |
The problem is the reading score. My child has top tier math scores but similar reading scores (80s) and we've applied and appealed twice but she has not been accepted. |
This will help. It will give you incredibly strong grounds for appeal at the very least. |
Thank you🙏 |
