Merit aid question

Several schools (miami, tulane, some public colleges) say that if you apply by x deadline, you will be automatically considered for merit aid. Do you still need to fill out fafsa or css if we only want consideration for merit? Not applying for financial aid...

Generally there is no FAFSA/CSS requirement to be considered for merit aid. A few schools do ask you to fill out FAFSA to be considered but it’s very rare, and they tend to be explicit about this.

+2 if you need to fill out FAFAS/CSS for merit aid at a school then you have found one of the handful of unicorn schools out there.

Has anyone done the research and compiled a list of those that require FAFSA for merit aid? TIA

I suspect the list is even shorter after last year’s FAFSA debacle, since schools got the info so late.
