Personal trainer for 12/13

Anonymous
Is this a thing that exists and, if so, any referrals would be appreciated:

I’d love to find a trainer to work out with my 13 year old son. He is athletic and plays baseball but doesn’t have a winter sport he loves, so he sort of hibernates all winter. He does like working out in a gym and I think he’d really love a trainer who could show him how to use proper form for squats, push ups, etc and also how to lift weights (not heavy ones yet, of course). Ideal would be someone who would come to our house but we’d bring him to a nearby gym too if that would make this workable. Even more ideal would be someone who could be a good male role model as well.

We live in Takoma park/Silver spring area.

I don’t know specifics in your area but I think a lot of baseball clubs also run gyms. You might want to see if he can sign up for winter training even if not on a team. (And sorry, no clue if clubs allow this but I assume they’d like to make money so maybe!)

It's not in MD but Hammerzone in Fairfax has entire programs dedicated to baseball performance training (lifting and agility mostly) that run both over the offseason and lower intensity in-season training. You don't have to be on their team to participate. Not sure if other gyms have program slike this.

Jack Herbert at Colliseum Gym in Columbia. Great strength coach — trains quite a few HS athletes. Also coaches HS teams himself so he knows what’s what. Contact the gym and they can connect you. Great gym and great trainer!!

PP here. Also Jack is a devoted dad and a super nice guy, so he ticks the role model box too.
