The purpose of this group is to support each other I guess. If you could share any information that is fine otherwise just ignore the post . If the OP know the information already then the post wouldnt be at the first place. Also there might be any new resources that might come from people that would really benefit all.Especially Benchmark is entirely new for many of us . so if people found any new info they might share .

- Read a lot of books. Background knowledge is shown to boost reading comprehension. Well-done books that introduce science and social studies (can be fiction or non-fiction, key is well done) are especially going to add value.

- Speed drills on paper for math facts. Writing boosts retention and FCPS doesn't do enough for math facts. Yes even in 6th grade AAP math.

Really the kids spend so much time on screens in FCPS why add more screen time? Pen & paper work.

Mathacademy.com (costs money), readtheory.org (free, but limited to reading comprehension questions)

Not free but I would bet that there are workbooks you can get off of Amazon that are not expensive and would provide the type of work that you are looking for. Look for workbooks for pre-algebra. There are a bunch for $10.

There is plenty of research that shows that pen and paper work is really important for learning and reinforcing material. Get some work that can be done off of the computer.

I subscribe to education.com but that tops out at 8th grade. It offers worksheets and games. You can browse and get some materials for free.

In the Montgomery County MCPS forum, at the top, is a sticky thread with LOTS of resources for families to use at home. Should find lots in that thread.
