We’re considering the swim camps at UVA, VT, and the naval academy. Any comparisons or big differences between these three camps? Are they all about the same size? Are any of the camps only for 13&up? Do they all include a session about nutrition? We have researched online, but appreciate hearing about everyone’s experience. |
VT camp was good for getting a feel for the college experience, but it was not rigorous for 13&up swimmers. |
They are all probably similar. We did Navy Swim for about 7 years and it was very good. They did have sessions on nutrition. |
Navy also offers an elite camp that is more geared toward older, more proficient swimmers. |
Can't speak to the week long summer camp at VT, but the weekend stroke specific camp my kids attended was excellent.
The head coach and entire staff were there for both sessions and were very hands on with lots of feedback for each swimmer. We stuck around and observed parts of the camp at the beginning because we have a younger swimmer. I was expecting more of a Fitter Faster type camp, but it was much better than that. Good staff to swimmer ration and lots of individual feedback even for the younger kids. It was excellent. I was very impressed and more importantly my kids loved it. |
