JMU visit

I’m taking my younger son on a tour of JMU next week. His brother is at UVA and loves the corner. Is there something similar at JMU where we can grab lunch after the tour?

Get a coupon from Admissions and eat in DHall. or E Hall on the other side of campus so you get a feel for on campus food.

But you could also go downtown. I've eaten at Clementine's which had an adorable patio.

There’s a lot of cute places downtown near clementines like Bella Luna and Cuban burger.

Also we like the cinnamon bear for bagel sandwiches, and Klines dairy bar for ice cream.

Go downtown. There are multiple garages, flat lots, etc.

Cute restaurants and unique shops.

Our DC is a junior at JMU

You aren't going to be there next weekend, Nov 2, I hope. It is their big Halloween weekend. The whole week before is nuts too. Probably the worst time to visit Harrisonburg.

Since the food is so much better at JMU than at UVA I’d also say dining hall for at least one meal.

Definitely eat on campus. The food there is so good and quite the selling point

JMU overhypes their dining hall leading to much disappointment.

We liked Bella Luna Wood Fired Pizza downtown. http://www.bellalunawoodfired.com/

Why would this be a bad time to visit? We’re visiting next weekend too. Sounds like a fun festive time to visit. We visited W&M on homecoming weekend and it really gave a sense of the school spirit.

This is what we did. Great food (honest) and it was another helpful way to get a feel for the school.

Thanks! He felt a little overwhelmed by VT (distance from nova and size), so I’m hoping JMU is more of the right fit.

Local Chop and Grill House, Jimmy Madison's, Capital Ale House, and there's a great little Indonesian/fusion restaurant right in old town called Boboko Cafe.

DP. It's a beautiful time of year, but the PP is correct. Halloweekend is HUGE at JMU (and other VA schools), so be prepared. It's a ton of fun, but will probably seem rowdier than it normally would.
