Health and Medicine

I am looking for a pediatrician who is open to separating vaccines, giving one or two at a time in the Maryland (Bethesda, Silver Spring, Rville).
Thanks |
| Although I didn't slow down my vax schedule I'm fairly certain my ped would have had I wanted to. His name is Dr. Raymond Coleman on Rockville Pike and he is right next to White Flint mall. The office is extremely dated but don't let that turn you off if you go. They are a great peadiatric group. |
| I believe our peds, capitol medical, will work on a slowed down schedule. We did not opt for it, however, and I'm glad since DH and I both got pertussis about a month after DS was vaccinated. |
| FWIW, I was exposed to measles a couple weeks ago, so that is going around, too. The public health nurse who stalked . . . I mean contacted me told me that pertussis is also getting more common and very dangerous for young children. |
| Just vaccinate your damn kid on schedule and stop putting everyone at risk! |
|
We go to Metropolitan Pediatrics on Rockville Pike and they are very flexible. They usually just say what they recommend and then leave it up to me. When my son got his MMR he was due for something else that day but they were totally fine with us coming back in 3 months for the other shot.

| why do people still want to do this if autism link has been debunked? sincerely curious |
Don't be so naive. |
Thanks for your thoughtful response. Very helpful. |
I have also heard that Pertussis and Measles are on the rise...Hope you were all okay.. |
My (vaccinated) child got Pertussis this past winter. The Pertussis vaccine and natural immunity aren't always long lasting. This is why a booster is mixed in with the tetanus vaccine. Watch for future colds, pp, because the pertussis symptoms can return with your next few illnesses. My healthy child now requires breathing treatments with every cold she has had since. |
There is really no link to vaccines and autism...Some experts are looking into other things such as ADHD, Food Allergies, Developmental Issues, Alzheimers, Seizures and more as a result of not the viruses in vaccines but the preservatives (not Thimersol anymore) but others like Aluminum or Formaldehyde. There is also new research of the adjuvants in vaccines causing neurological aggravation. I have not researched enough about adjuvants but it is my understanding that they prime the immune system to get it going to respond to the viruses in vaccines. There is also a thought that most infants and children can handle the immunological load of the typical vaccine schedule, however some children just can't and end up with mild to more sever reactions to vaccines. I think it is crucial to vaccinate your children, but do it in a informed and responsible way. While the antigens in the vaccines are much much less then what we ever had, our children receive over 30 or more vaccines by the time they are in school. Good luck and hope this helps clear up your question. |
If you don't know the answer to this, then you should really find out by doing some research that goes beyond asking on a forum. |
| Yes, it is the adjuvents - which act to speed up reactions, if I understand it right - that are getting more attention. Even Dr. Fauci at NIH acknowledges that this can be a problem, and if you've had strange reactions to vaccines in the past the particular weight you give to non-crucial vaccines should be weighed in your decision. (He said this with regard to H1N1 vaccines, of which he in general is a very strong advocate - obviously.) People also can get Giullian-Barre syndrome, and this is quite well established in the literature. My DS had strange reactions after the meningococcal, like he had with Chicken Pox several years ago. Though the connection is difficult to prove in an open and shut case, I believe he is sensitive, and would encourage you to look beyond the hyper-focus on autism for other possible reactions. So it may be fine to be wary of quackery and knee-jerk reactions to not vaccinate, I think you also should be wary of the "oh shut up and just vaccinate" knee-jerk reactions. |
Great info and thanks so much for such for your response. |
