Black kitchen utensils. Now dangerous to our health?

Anonymous

I didn't see a thread on this- sorry if there is one. Should I be worried?
I guess I'll start a thread in the food forum on what to buy instead.

I feel that way too sometimes. But on the other hand if there's overwhelming evidence and it's a relatively easy change I'll consider it.

Throw them out. Today.

First granite countertops and now this? My MIL is going to lose her mind.

Yeah, just wait till we have "fearless de-regulators" running the gov't.

What's the problem with granite?

Well that's the thing. If these are dangerous, why aren't they regulated now?

I threw most of mine away. I recently began using only stainless steel steel or cast iron or ceramic.
The USA doesn’t really regulate these. There’s enough valid research out there to scare me.

Right, now that Dr Fauci was nearly felled by a mosquito from his backyard (in Bethesda)…I . Just. Can’t.

You are naive.

Most of what we have been exposed to has never been tested on humans. Certainly not over decades. I think chemical exposures and plastics are why adults are now developing cancers at younger ages.

Capitalist countries don’t require any such testing for most consumer products (see social media).

Yes, you should.

There’s so much out there that “could” be harmful and it’s impossible to address it all. But I think focusing on your kitchen/food makes sense since you eat 3x/day, every day, so changes there make a big difference.

Over time, get kid of all your plastic and non-stick stuff. Opt for steel and wood utensils, glass containers, cast iron, steel, and ceramic cookware. Look at where everything was made and if coatings were used.

Dont microwave plastic or place it in the dishwasher.

If black utensils are the thing that takes me down, so be it. Something's going to get me.
