So I guess we’re wearing crop tops to work now

Anonymous
Super surprised by how much I see girls wearing crop tops at work. I was at a bookstore today and a girl was wearing what was basically a bra.

I remember we weren’t even allowed to wear tank tops, shirts had to have sleeves.

Is this a thing now? Do business owners really not care how bad it looks?

I've never seen a fit, attractive woman care about what other women wear.

I remember this from when I started teaching back in the early 2000s and a pregnant faculty member wore a shirt that exposed her belly on purpose. So I guess it's not new?

Exactly. Jealous much? If it bothers you that much, write a complaint to HR. Not a public message board. YAWN.

Disagree. I’m fit, attractive and also a manager. It’s just not professional to have your stomach out.

I will say that other countries see no issues with stomachs showing (like India) so it’s not universal.

When I was a young woman, the last thing I wanted to do was dress that way in the workplace. It was hard enough to be taken seriously and treated as an equal. I didn’t favor the casual Friday change and then all casual/anything goes. I needed every bit of my power suit.

Different time, male-dominated industry. Maybe things have changed.

I sent A young woman home and told her to ask her mother how to dress for a job interview. She was wearing a tank top and short (very short) shorts and flip flops.

There are no standards anymore. Many women are too stupid (apparently) to know how to dress appropriately for the occasion anymore, whether that be work or school or even just going to the store, and any attempt to correct them is met with accusations of “OMG you’re just a jealous hag” or the ever popular (and utterly meaningless) “stop policing women’s bodies!!!”

It’s pathetic and I find the women who act like this to be an embarrassment.

Good friend is a partner at at big law firm. She said they have had to have conversations with the summer interns about not wearing crop tops to the office. At skadden. What a time to be alive.

I worked at a large law firm in the early 2000s and was in charge of the "dress code" power point. No open toed shoes!

I'm fit and attractive and I also hate this look. As a matter of fact the majority of women sporting this fashion are fat fat fat. Please, no one want to see your bulbous rolls over your pants. I remember in the 90s we called it a muffin top. Now it's more like the whole breadbasket and bakery products from last week clinging to the top of the pants for dear life.

This is a good one. Toes are gross. Man toes are even worse.

Men don't do this. It's women who dress with barely any clothing then complain about not being taken seriously. Trust me, if a man wore his speedos and a crop tank with flip flops, I wouldn't take him seriously either.
