Anyone have an academically successful kid at Einstein with dyslexia and ADHD?

We are in DCC and thinking about transitioning child from specialized school to MCPS after 8th grade. Einstein is appealing because of visual and performing arts academy (and possibly VAC).

If your child is there do they have a resource class? Is it hard to get IEP honored? Do they receive outside tutoring?

With MCPS, outside tutoring is always helpful. They do have resource and other classes. Most of the regular classes are pretty basic and its hit or miss for the teachers like any other school. There are great teachers and some meh. Most teachers are available at lunch for extra help. It's a good school overall. Most kids are happy there. It's not a very competitive school.

You have to apply fir the VAC. I know that they have a resource class available. They have a terrific performing arts, art and music program.

My kid is at Einstein with an IEP. He has ADHD along with other learning struggles. He does not use the resource class. He loves Einstein. Most of his teachers have been terrific. His IEP needs are not much, so it is hard for me to speak to how well they meet for others. I have found that you do have to check in to be sure IEP supports are happening, but I don't think that's unusual in MCPS generally. The school has a great, welcoming vibe.
