Lafayette

Parents of current student, what do you like/love about Lafayette and what do you not like (if anything)? Looking for feedback beyond the tour and brochures and website.

We live in PA and I think it's a little under the radar. My kid has a good friend there. They're working hard and playing hard. Seems like a very good liberal arts education with a lot of bright kids. My kid's friend plays a club sport and does a few activities. Says most kids are from NY/NJ/CT.

Keep hearing that the food is bad. Can anyone confirm?

We actually just ate there after a tour. It was fine. Of course, that was just one meal, but there were plenty of options. The students had an app they used to order ahead for pickup, and it seemed very popular.

Food is fine per our child's reports. Big pro academically (like some other schools this size) is the ability to interact closely with faculty and receiving good support and good challenges from faculty. Campus is handsome, well maintained and located adjacent to College Hill neighborhood which is fairly nice and reasonably safe. Downside is that socially, not much going on if not Greek or on a varsity sports team.

We visited there and it's a very nice campus, great engineering program. It's preppy. Lots of kids in nice cars. Big focus on athletics. Our son decided on WPI, instead, which was more laid back socially.

This DD’s favorite right now. We did a tour last spring and she really loved it. She’s at TJ and plans to major in CS.

Anyone have anymore info on their CS program?

Also would welcome more info on the social scene. DD is a band dork. Would she fit in at all?
