| I have zero interface with 3 of them (and didn't even know they were pregnant) and the other I have very minor interaction with. They are all having a group baby shower at the office. An email was sent with their baby registry. Am I supposed to get them all a gift? I don't see any of them due to our hybrid schedules (we also work on different floors). WWYD?? |
| ...I apologize if this is the wrong forum. Please move if it is. |
| This is not that hard. You don't know them so don't participate. |
If you are a woman you should. Women love that stuff. |
|
My guess is they included you so you didn't post that there are only 4 women in your office and they left you out.
Participate if you want. Don't if you don't want to. It could be a way of becoming more connected if you want that. Or will solidify your disconnect if you decline. |
| My office takes up a collection and presents them with one big gift card from the office to Amazon or wherever they're registered. In this case, I would maybe donate $40 and let the coordinator buy four gift cards. |
| Schedule your dental cleaning appointment for that day and then say you're soooo sorry you can't be in for the festivities and wish them the best with their new little ones. |
| In my experience gifts are not expected at work showers. I would actually feel a little uncomfortable if a colleague I didn't know well got me a gift (because I would think they for some reason felt obligated to). You can show up, say congrats, and get some cake. |
This. Or get a token $5 board book and put a bow on it. NBD. |
| I wouldn't get them anything if you aren't close. |
| I would contact the organizer and ask if they would consider a group gift card or something for those who will not be in the office that day. |
| Skip it. You don’t know them. |
| does the email not say? Usually when we do a baby shower for a pregnant coworker their manager sends the shower details and then says "We are collecting contributions for a gift card but if you'd like to get something yourself, attached is the registry." |
