DC Area Cycling tracks Velodromes etc.

Are there any closed loop sport tracks in the area especially that might be available to the public. I am kind of curious. I feel my bike workouts are sort of limited by distances and roads.

I live across the country near another velodrome. But I don’t think you’re going to get what you’re looking for. Our velodrome doesn’t have many open riding times and isn’t like an indoor track at a gym where you can just go and do a bunch of laps on your own. You typically have to be in a class, clinic, or racing session to use it. You also have to have a fixed gear bike that’s used only at the track or use their rentals if you’re taking a class. They do allow road bikes but track bikes get priority during open times and you have to ask other riders if you can use your road bike. This may or may not be specific to our velodrome or standard etiquette- I only know one. It’s also focused on short, quick races.

If you’re looking for long indoor sessions, maybe a bike trainer or rollers is the answer?

I've seen on youtube videos for example. Today we're here at the ... it's a two mile loop. Cycling is very popular around here.

Two miles! That is very long. Ours is 400 m and more akin to what you see at the Olympics.
