Cute Dress for Wedding?

Anonymous
A good friend from grad school has chosen to get married when I am at 35.5 weeks and at my utmost state of blob!

I need a dress (or would I need two--one for the wedding and the other for the reception, which is 4 hours later?)

In any case, do you guys have any ideas of where I can get affordable, yet dressy dresses that will accommodate a nearly 36-week belly?
I dont' want to spend more than 50 bucks tops on the dress.

I got a very cute dress on sale at Mimi Maternity for about $35--simple and black. I've had to wear it to two weddings already and have been happy with it.

Thanks a lot, both of you. The quest is on!

I bought all my maternity dresses (for work) from Nordstron online. If on sale, they can be within the mentioned price range.

If you're able to wait until the end of December/early January, I would hold off and buy something on sale. We have a formal wedding in mid-February and I'm HOPING to pick up a dress on sale right after New Years.

Thanks, guys. It seems to me that if you're not prepared to break the bank, the options are pretty ratty looking at places like Motherhood Maternity and Target etc. I'll give Nordstroms a shot. The wedding's on Dec. 29th, so I'll have to scramble to get anything on sale.

I'm not sure if we're allowed to post items for sale here, so I apologize if I'm not (I'm new to DCUrbanmom as my litte one is still in utero!)

OP, I'm not sure what size you're looking for, but I actually spent $120 on a pretty black lace (pink lining) sleeveless dress from Pea in the Pod, size L. (DH made me splurge, since most of my other maternity clothes were Old Navy/Target!) I wore it at 32w to a wedding, and it was stretchy - I planned to wear it to holiday parties, but since I'm due next week, well, it may not get another wear!

If you're interested, post and I'd be happy to email a photo. I'd be happy to sell it to you for $50 since I wore it for a couple hours only. (My alternate plan is to take it to a consignment shop or eBay it.)

Thanks! Can you email me a picture to xieulex@yahoo.com please? I hate my arms and therefore not a big sleeveless fan, but the dress sounds cute! I am looking for a medium, ideally, but a large might work, too.

I had some luck in getting some really cute dresses for formal events at the Wiggle Room in Bethesda-- it is a consignment store that carries upscale, good quality used maternity clothes (and childrens clothes!).
