Rafting the Middle Fork of the Salmon

Is this really the most amazing rafting ever? These trips seem to sell out more than other rafting trips, but its kind of remote and expensive. ANyone done it and could share their experience?

I don't know if it is the most amazing rafting ever, but it is pretty special and worth every penny, in my opinion, having been a few times. The canyon is gorgeous, the whitewater fairly intense and its a great opportunity to be off the grid for 5 days. So many rivers are along side roads as these can be easier places to build a road, its nice to experience so much solitude - the only other people you will see are the two or three other groups that put in on the same day as you.

I would only want to do the last week of June - first three weeks of July. Any earlier and it can be freezing and really high water. Any later - hot, potentially smokey and skinny water. Also I would only go if I had enough people to book the whole trip and not be paired with random guests. Normally I am fine with group vacations and enjoy getting to meet new people. But the paddling can be intense and a lot of time spent around camp - that I'd want to know my whole group. So it might take a year or two for you to find a slot that meets those parameters.

My husband and his buddy did it about 10 years ago and he still talks about it to this day. Worth it! I didn’t go, I’m just not a camping person, but if you are, DO IT

We’ve done it twice, and it was great both times. Check out ROW Adventures. Magical!

That's who I am considering. We rafted the Rogue with them in 2018 (highly recommend!)

I did it 25 years ago and it was spectacular. Great trip for family with older kids.
