has anyone tried skylightframe for keeping your family organized? did it help?

Currently everything lives in my head / calendar and I dole out the reminds and to-do and logistics to nanny and kids (husband is very disengaged but thats for a different thread. but we don't currently have a shared calendar b/c it'd be pointless).

Having a big visual for everyone as the kids get older seems helpful and a spot to easily create the kids morning routines (maybe its more fun to check off on a digital thing than just look at the list on the fridge?) and have a starting point meal plan based on meals we like for less coordination on whats for dinner with nanny etc. But I can also see it being something thats exciting for a few weeks and then everyone stops looking at.

Anyone have experience with it? Was it helpful for getting your family more organized and everyone more engaged on whats going on / what they need to do?

We have a skylight frame. It was a mother's day gift (take from that what you will). I do like it a lot! The interface is very simple to use on the device, but I really like that we can add events from our work outlooks by inviting our @skylight email. I use it to map out school holidays, work travel, kids practices, family visits, doc's appts, long range meal planning, even chores.

Where it fails for me is small to-do list type things and a more granular, weekly view of ad-hoc things that pop up. For that, I have a big acrylic wall calendar for the week. That's where I track the kids' homework and quizzes, spirit days, who's going to who's friend's house, little to-do list items for the day, etc. I often copy things over from the skylight but I like having the big zoomed-in view for the week to look at in the mudroom as we go in and out of the house.

NP here, does it work with Cozi? My family just switched from Google calendar to Cozi and that's going well so far, but of course the display is just on our phones.

We love it too. My kids love checking off their chores and seeing what we and they have going on. I don't think it works with Cozi.

Is it just too much of a hassle to create events for the one off things?

Yes it does.

Yes, I can also confirm that it works with Cozi. Cozi is Better for the to do list items and identification of separate calendars, and my opinion. So we use both but in many ways cozy and skylight feel redundant. The skylight console hardware is awesome. I love having a screen with our daily calendar in the kitchen as the kids have gotten older.

Yes, I received it as a gift and it's been incredibly. helpful for us! We sync it with our Google Calendar (they sync to any calendar that will provide you a web URL) and the things I like the most are:
1. We can color code on Google and it syncs to the Skylight
2. You can assign calendar items to multiple people through the App or on the device
3. We can sync it to my kids' sports team calendars
4. There is an AMAZING Facebook group where the customer support team is really active. They answer questions and they listen to feedback. They have turned feedback from the Facebook group into new features, and they always announce them there.

We use the chores sporadically, but that's on us. I just need to get better about assigning the kids chores.

DP but nope, I don't think it's a hassle at all. We add things in via google, the Skylight app, and on the device. Including playdates and school things (like spirit week themed days).

We have one and like it. It’s mostly for the kids to see what’s happening because DH and I share a calendar and are pretty organized overall. All kid activities get added to the Skylight and we sync their school calendar to it as well. We color code activities for each kid so they can easily see their schedule. We also use the chore function and the list function. I especially like the lists because the kids can add grocery items directly on the list when we run out of something or they want something in particular (the skylight is in our kitchen). We can also add items to the cal, chore or list from the app on our phones.

Do you don’t use digital calendars? Fascinating. But no I’m not concerned about “government” knowing when my doctors appt is or what my kids chore chart is. Or at least am realistic about the ten thousand ways my sensitive health and financial information is already online and that adding when school spirit day to the internet doesn’t increase my cyber risk
