| Any recommendations for a good Indian restaurant for a special occasion? Northern Virginia location preferred. |

I'm about to make a trip from Moco to try this place that my friend keeps talking about. http://bollywoodbistro.com/ |
| Bombay tandoor |
| Dishes of India. |
| If you want a little fancier Indian, Kismet in Alexandria. Most of the restaurants mentioned here are standard fare/ambience. I don't think there is a real 'special occasion' Indian restaurant in NoVA. |

Dishes of India is awesome. It has been for maybe 25 years?
But it’s in a basement in an old strip mall. It doesn’t have a ton of ambience. But that’s part of its character. I’m a huge fan. |
I love that place. We have a friend who spent years at our embassy in New Dehli who swears by it |
| How about Afghan food? Afghan Bistro in Springfield is amazing. It's in a strip mall/industrial area, but the inside is small and cozy - nicely decorated. |
The location is not great, but cloth table covers, cloth napkins, matching silverware, and dedicated wait staff for the various tasks. |
| Raaga. |
Thanks. We tried this one and enjoyed our meal a lot. |

North Indian: Bansari
South Indian: Saravana Palace or Bengaluru Cafe (hole in the wall but really good food) - both vegetarian only. |
| We like Commonwealth Indian, if you're willing to come out to moco |
| Jaipur in Fairfax. It’s really pretty inside and the food is great. |
