A Car Insurance Question

I was recently in a collision and the other driver + I exchanged all of our info.

Their car insurance company phoned me and wants me to give them a recorded statement of what happened.
They not only want me to speak to their agent directly - they also are requesting that I send them photos.

My Uncle told me that I should just refer them to my insurance company because that is why I am paying them.

He told me I am not obligated to speak with the other party’s insurance carrier whatsoever.

Is this true?
