The infamous elite tournaments just announced they are having an all-girls tournament next year the same weekend as WAGS..."super nova cup" https://elitetournaments.com/tournaments/supernova-cup/#
Thoughts? Are they really trying to compete with WAGS, is WAGS going down or do people really dislike WAGS organization that much? I don't see how the "Super Nova Cup" will be any different than WAGS, its all the same fields and teams....elite must really need $$$ |
| The last thing we need is another tournament that weekend. It's embarrassing to the region that Joey's 6th team won the 3rd bracket of a 7th rate tournament |
| Looks like an option for lower level teams. I don't think ECNL teams will participate. |
Isn't that what Discovery Cup, SAC, Heritage, and Battlefield Blast are? Did I miss any? |
| Elite Tournaments is a management service. Tournament organizers pay them to manage the tournament for them by providing a website, registration, insurance, blah blah. The question is which club(s) or organization(s) are behind this tournament (ie putting up the money)? |
| That means Valor can send the other 47 teams here instead of going to Williamsburg to play themselves. |
| Yeah it's curious why they would market a new tournament only to girls. |
Maybe they are taking over management of discovery cup. There's no way Heritage should have had girls brackets over age U12. The level of play was abysmal |
| People are over supporting LB and her vacations. |
|
WAGS will be looked at as a higher tiered tournament. This group simply looked at the other events outside the area and noticed a lot of teams going to other venues. The demand is already there so creating a local tournament for those lower level teams isn't that hard to understand. WAGS is looking for top 1-2 teams in age groups. Plus those same clubs can now bring their 3-4th team w/them as well.
|
| Is there enough field space to go around? It's not just wags- other field sports have tournaments that weekend too |
This new tournament says fields are in Loudoun/Fairfax. WAGs also uses those fields so will be competition to secure them first, or more likely, Super Nova already has lined them up and wags will need to move towards Richmond. Hmm, which fields in Fairfax and Loudoun could be secured this far in advance (hint: probably not county controlled fields) |
Elite tournaments already helps run WAGS. it's on their website and has been for several years now. |
Elite tournaments runs tournaments in the same way that teamsnap runs clubs. They are just a platform. |
| Not so. They have a whole person dedicated just to WAGS. Look at their management team on their website |
