Rec Tennis for 13 yo?

Anonymous
My daughter has been taking weekly lessons at Fairfax Racquet Club for the past few years and has been in the yellow ball level, which is the top level for junior beginners, for the last 18 months or so. A coach watched her play this past summer and said she wasn't ready for their "development path", and recommended she stick with the yellow ball lessons. She's interested in playing more often but it's tough to get an extra weekly lesson slot (and it's pretty expensive).

My husband plays with her on school courts when he can and if the courts are available, but I'd love to find something more consistent. Any recommendations for a rec league where she can play some casual matches? Other than private country clubs, I don't know where she can play, especially indoors once the weather changes.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

You need to get out of Fairfax racquet club and go elsewhere

Does she go for one lesson a week? If she’s motivated you can maybe find out where all the public courts are within a 15 mile radius. Check them out one by one. See when it’s busy or when there’s no one there. And hopefully there won’t be any stupid looking pickleball games going on.
