DCI for IEP

Anonymous
Hi, will cross post on SN but DD has a guarantee for DCI next year. She has an IEP for math on grade level for ELA and language. Dual language is important to us and DD really enjoys it and hope to pick up another language at some point. If you are a DCI parent with a child who has an IEP can you share your experience with SPED? I know every kids situation is different but wondering if you think the learning specialists are good, how pullouts and cushions are handled and if your students support team is responsive and communicates. Thank you. We’ve been really pleased with services at feeder FWIW. Also, we have reached out to the school directly but trying to get as much information as possible.

We have been happy with DCI overall. As for SpEd, it has not been great. It’s fine. It’s better than our feeder but not much.

I’ll try to answer your questions individually.

how are pullouts and cushions are handled: some pushback initially but these are done during PE. PE teacher has been mostly accommodating.

Is your students support team is responsive and communicates?
No not really. I don’t even know who to email with an issue.

Services for ELA have been push-in and have been okay at best. Math program at DCI is very strong as as foreign language programs. We haven’t had to push to maintain services while being in more accelerated classes.
