How do you surprise someone with a car? Which name does it go in? Who makes the payments? I have questions

I see this happen with spouses, mostly social media even local social media, etc are they paying for these cars in full/no payments? Is the car in the name of the person leading the surprise? In both names? I have so many questions.

If Anne is buying Steve a car as a surprise, is she using her credit, her money? Is the car now in Anne’s name? Does Steve make the payments? Is he on the title? The loan?

How does that work?

It’s a terrible idea and should not be done!

I’ve only seen it done between parents and a kid or between spouses. In the former, the parents are paying for it and it’s still in their names. In the latter, it’s shared money anyway and they’ll eventually register it in the recipient’s name

My husband had an ancient car that finally died. The same day, he went to the dealership and bought a new car for me (and then he drove mine). He took out the loan and made the payments. He called me at work that day and told me. It was nice! He took care of tye problem.and luckily I liked the car. So it happens and it was not that complicated. His name is on the title and that's fine.

It's easy to transfer the title after purchase. We did it at AAA for our son.
