PSA: Mom's no longer accepts shoes

Ugh. Took a box on Saturday only to discover this. It's what I did with shoes that I didn't think could sell at a thrift store. It's time-consuming to be environmental..

Many of those boxes in parking lots take shoes.

If you cannot sell a pair of shoes, then nobody wants them. Don't foist off your garbage on charities, that costs them money and hurts them.

I know there are businesses who buy goods from thrift stores, Goodwill, etc., then repackage and sell to other countries in bulk. Perhaps Mom's no longer has that, or never did and now shoes are no longer acceptable to USA customers.

There are boxes in some rec centers to recycle sneakers. Just sneakers though-- it's mostly the rubber being reused.

I do wish there was a better system for figuring oit where to bring recycled stuff.
J have an enormous box of batteries and can’t figure out where to take them. I think 15 years ago Home Depot used to take them but when I tried a couple years ago they insisted they never did.
