New poster. I used the mobile MVA bus in Chevy Chase, MD. They outfitted a charter bus to create a mini MVA office. It's cute, the people were very nice (they were smiling, and the gentleman even checked something for me that wasn't part of my original appointment), and I didn't wait at all.

Amazing.

When I got the Real ID it was two hours of pure Hell.

I have had to have way too many interactions with the MVA in Maryland over the last few years (kid getting a non-driver ID then a permit then license, and transferring a car bought in private sale from DC to MD) and every single one has gone incredibly smoothly.

MVA was terrible for me.

Long like and long wait to be called.
Poorly announcing when your turn was called, no way to see if you missed up, no one to ask for help to find out.

That's considered fast? Took about 5 min for me.

With an appointment earlier this year, I upgraded to a RealID at Virginia DMV. In and out in 20 minutes. New license with star logo arrived in the mail a few weeks later.

I was very careful to get the instructions about which specific documents they needed from the official VA DMV website. So I had all the correct documents for them in my manila envelope.

I go to the Beltsville MVA for buying/selling cars and for my teen drivers. We're always out of there in less than an hour.

The people there are not overly cheerful (Sir, this is not a Chick Fil A) but are polite and efficient as if we are all just trying to get this stuff done.

I recently had to get my vision checked in MD and renew my license. I was in and out of the MVA in 10 minutes; super easy. I think Covid forced them to computerize and streamline things. However it happened it’s always nice when government functions efficiently.
