VB clubs that do not require overnight travel

Anonymous
Can you please name the clubs that do NOT travel outside of the region? We are homebound because of the disabilities of our other child, but our daughter wants to play club volleyball and we want to give her the opportunity despite not being able to travel. She has only played select rec, but she really wants to try for a club team this season. Thank you.

Evolution VB club has an in-house program that runs from ~ December to May(ish). Our 15 yr old DD played there last winter, and we were happy there as she started late in the sport and was trying to catch up to be competitive to play for her HS team (which she now is). They work out of the Franconia Rec Center in northern VA. Prices are reasonable compared to the more competitive clubs.

There are a lot of local tournaments at places like national harbor. My kid was on a travel team last year and I think only had one overnight (in PA) which could have been form as a long day trip if the aren’t was willing.

Alexandria Titans doesn’t do much overnight travel.

For other clubs, you could ask if she could be a practice player. She’ll get all the practice time, but won’t have to travel.

Assuming you still have to pay club prices for this option?

Practice players pay significantly less than the travel players. Some clubs don't use practice players and some do. Among those who do, some post the cost on their websites, some don't. Our club had a couple of practice players, but the cost was never advertised on the website.

I’m one of the PP and a practice player is a good idea. Inquire ahead of time. Send emails and be direct if there is a club you are interested in, to see if this is an option. Vienna Elite puts the price on their site for practice players and it is less than half. I don’t remember seeing other clubs do this. https://www.viennaelite.org/page/show/6755053-club-fees-2024-25-season

For full disclosure, you should mention that a practice player at VA Elite pays as much as a travel player in other clubs. That's monumental ripoff.

Which clubs in VA do you know that are charging 3k or less besides Volley Viet or DYS. We know of those two. Everything else is over 5k and many are much higher. I’m sure others would appreciate suggestions, OP could start there too.
