Found out my appliance is damaged months after getting it

Anonymous
I purchased a dishwasher 4 months ago from Lowe’s. It started leaking so I had to pull the unit out. I found the entire backside is extremely smashed/dented. I remembered the Lowe’s installer pushing it into the space hard but had no clue it was so damaged from what he did. Does anyone have any experience with trying to make a claim with a big box store months after having an appliance installed?

Dishwashers are one of the worst and most useless appliances ever made.
It's like putting a mini-bar in a bathroom. Just no.

As far as your issue, look at the work order and installation agreement for coverage about install damage.

More than likely you waited too long to get any compensation.

Put a nice cabinet in place of the dishwasher.

Jesus, ignore the PP who is apoplectic about dishwashers and also useless with providing clearly requested advice.

OP, I would wonder if it was more than the install that caused the damage. Did you happen to see the box/was it intact when it arrived?

I am sorry, I haven't had to make a claim in that way but it could be covered by the product warranty even if you didn't purchase an extra warranty from the big box store.

You have one year warranty so start calling.

Most useless??? Are you crazy. We use dishwashers daily. I'd say they are one of the most useful.

Seriously. Adding a dishwasher was our first home improvement we did when we bought our house without one.

This is OP. I contacted Lowe’s and amazingly the installer wrote on the delivery ticket the unit was damaged but never called Lowe’s to let them know or told me. Lowe’s is making it right and will be giving me a new dishwasher.

So you have no advice other than repeating things?

They tend to make money on write-offs like that, so win-win.

Oh great, another idiot with no reading comprehension and who doesn't know the definition of 'repeated'.

Glad you got help, OP. You wouldn't have been helped by these troglodytes circling to be unhelpful.

It never hurts to start with the seller, who in this case is stepping up admirably. Good news.

Do all of you have the same tired old insults and words you looked up in a thesaurus? I mean really, get new material or at least try to stay on topic.

Curious OP, did you have to show a receipt or was your purchase still on file at Lowes?
