finding temporary housing for September and October

Anonymous
DH, DC, and I need temporary housing for September and October, preferably near the Rockville/ Bethesda area. I checked Craigslist. I was thinking of walking some neighborhoods looking for houses with " For Rent" signs to see if they would be willing to do 2 months. Does anyone have other suggestions? Thanks so much

There's a hotel/apartment type residence at the Rio at Washingtonian that rents monthly.

Oakwood has several short-term rental properties around the area, including (I think) Bethesda. So if it sounds like it would work, definitely check out other locations.

Check out sabbatical homes:

There are some short-term rentals there.

I suggest you look at high rise condominiums or "executive apartments" rather than individual houses for rent as they are more willing to go month to month than a private owner.

When we were between homes (sold house #1 one month before we could move into house #2) we stayed at the Oakwood Apartments at Rio in Gaithersburg. We have 2 kids and a large dog and it worked out well. Marriott also has a program called ExecuStay where you can get fully furnished apartments as well. I know they have a few buildings in the area, I just don't know where. We also checked out the apartments at 10100 Grosvenor (355 and Grosvenor) and they were willing to sign a month to month lease with us, the only reason we didn't go with them is because the unit available at the time was on the 15th floor and with the dog and the 2 kids it wouldn't have worked out for us as well as the available unit at Oakwood. Things to consider: if you rent in a high rise condo you may have to furnish the unit yourself while the executive apartments are fully furnished.

OP here -- thanks so much for your suggestions. Has anyone noticed any "For rent" signs near Walter Johnson High School?
