Probably a long shot, but would be so helpful for many.

That would be amazing. Given people pay into medicare all their lives and then when they use it pay a heavy premium they should offer it.

No one would be happier than me if this aid came about.

However

We have such a large number of aging people about to need this care and it is SO expensive.

I don't understand how we could pay for it, as a nation.

Increase taxes
Cut spending in other areas.

People pay into medicare their entire lives. Plus you pay premiums, deductables and co-pays when on it and you have no choice to be on medicare.

We have a waiver program for the poorest but the income care is limited to 10 hrs a week. Would be lovely to see Medicare cover more!

Track down all the money people stole from the pandemic payroll stimulus relief thingy. Take it back from them with interest. Done.

It would bankrupt the country.

This. Isn't it lovely that she can go on Colbert and make such statements. It's like the elementary school class president promising half-day recess.

In MD, we couldn't even get 10 hours a week and the only option was long term medicaid. After a loved one is in a nursing home there is a waiver to bring them home with help but help was not helpful as at best it was a few hours a month. We had no option but a nursing home.

At least some savings would be realized from delaying entry into nursing homes.

This would require massive immigration to actually staff, no matter how much money was available, and at the same time those immigrants are being sought after by other countries with declining demographics.

You can be sure the program will be means tested and have other limitations that will mean the DCUM demographic won’t be eligible for it.
