| We are going to be in Disneyland / California Adventure for a couple days later this year. We have a 4 and 6 year old, and they are not exactly adventurous eaters. When they are in restaurants, they stick to the basic "kid meal" type foods - pizza, mac and cheese, chicken tenders, hot dogs. I am trying to figure out if there are any restaurants we should try to get reservations for while we're at Disney, either in the parks or in Downtown Disney. We have a character experience booked, but other than that, are there any restaurants we *must* try, or are we better off sticking with the fast casual options for the kids? |

I have found that with the time change and excitement my kids were hungry at weird times that didn’t necessarily work well with pre-scheduled reservations. Having the flexibility to grab food and avoid meltdowns was helpful.
But other than that-go wherever interests you as adults. They all have basic, kid-friendly stuff. |
+1 Use the app for online ordering so you can make sure whichever quick service place you’re near has what you’re looking for. They’re typically bunched together so you can shop around (ie toasted cheese from Jolly Holiday next to hot dogs and Mac and cheese from Refreshment Corner.) |
| Basically all Disney restaurants have standard kid food, regardless of the cuisine the restaurant serves in its main menu. |

The Italian place in downtown Disney is probably the safest sit down bet for picky eaters.
Blue bayou also had a fine kids menu. |
| I was surprised that the fast casual food at DL is much better than the fast food at WDW. There is a Mexican place near thunder mountain that is great. I also got a tofu banh mi off the kids menu from someplace that was totally delicious. Get the app and check out some options so you’ll have some ideas and can order quickly when you are hungry. |

You can order on the app, so that the food is waiting for you when you get to the restaurant of your choice. Main Street has a lot of standard kids' fare at Disneyland. The Star Wars area on the edge of the park has pretty good food, but it features a lot of vegetarian options that little kids might not embrace.
At CA Adventure, the Cars area has a diner, and San Frasokyo has a food court area. |
| Don’t bother with the sit down restaurants just do quick service. |
| We were just there in August. Only ate at Counter Service using Mobile Order. We really liked Docking Bay 7 & Tiana's Palace at DL. At CA we liked Pym's Kitchen and Flo's. Red Rose Tavern is ok. The best thing about it is the Gray Stuff and the ease of being able to run in and request a cup of water from the pick up windows quickly. |
| Tiana’s place was good |
This. The food is good enough and you don’t have to plan your day around a restaurant reservation which may be at a time when nobody is hungry or conflicts with a lightening lane. The table service restaurants aren’t much to write home about anyway. |
