| DH and I are looking for a two-night stay at an inn somewhere within 2 hours of DC. We're not looking for a spa or anything glitzy, but someplace low-key and relaxing. We've stayed at the Ashby Inn and the Goodstone Inn near Middleburg and loved both, but they're booked for our dates (late October). TIA for any recommendations you might have. |
| Iris Inn and L’Auberge Provencale are great. |
Agree with these and will add the Hope and Glory Inn in Irvington, which I suspect is less likely to be booked |
|
would also recommend Blue Rock (between Washington and Sperryville) - it's attached to a wonderful restaurant.
In Washington, the White Moose Inn is also lovely. both offer great access to the mountains and are relatively close to a couple of the better wineries in the area (RDV, Linden, Crimson Lane) |
| Clifton Inn |
|
The Clifton Inn is really nice.
Three hours drive is the River House https://www.riverhousenewhope.com The Lodge at Woodloch is lovely but it is probably 4 hours https://www.thelodgeatwoodloch.com/photo-gallery |
| There is nothing relaxing about most Inns. In theory, yes. In reality, no. |
Truth. |
Some have private lodging. We stayed in the Gamekeepers Cottage at Inn at Little Washington, and it was very private and peaceful with long vistas and a view of the kitchen garden. |
| OP here -- Thanks, all, for these suggestions. We decided to go to the beach instead, but will definitely keep your recommendations in mind for the future. |
| I want to try The Farmhouse at Veritas. |
| We like the St Michaels Harbor Inn. We just leave our car in the parking lot and walk to restaurants and around town during our stay. |
| We love Goodstone inn and the dinner. The dinner is amazing and the vibe was wonderful. |
Oh oops I mixed them up. I meant Glen gordon, in Huntly va. Of course Goodstone is also lovely. |
| It’s 2.5 hours but we just stayed at the Williamsburg Inn and it was really nice. If you stay 2 nights then breakfast is included. |
