| I don't spend much time online, but I come to this site occasionally for information. I'm always astounded by the number of snarky responses to questions. Are some ppl that miserable? Does it make you feel like you're smart or witty? Why do you have so much time on your hands? If you don't have a constructive response, why bother? Do you wonder why your relationships in real life are bad? I'm just curious. I have already spent way too much time here and now I feel like it may be rubbing off. Queue the snarky responses... |
| Yes. Queue the snarly and snarky. Plenty of both here. |

agree

| It’s how DCUM rolls. You have to learn to move past them. There’s a lot of good info on here, but it can be buried in crap. |

My relationships in my life are great. A lot of people are stupid and a lot of people have anxiety about things that don't matter. I don't have patience for people who go online to post a question that can be googled, rather than googling it themselves. I don't have patience for parents who are so tightly wound and then reveal their kid has anxiety - blows my mind that they can't see the problem is them. Combine all that with being sarcastic, and there you go.
Plus, I've noticed some people have a very direct way of speaking while others think that's rude and would spend a paragraph saying what others would say very directly in one sentence. |

Sometimes there's just the general meanness. That's been DCUM forever.
There is either a poster posters who I mentally assume is about in 7th grade who loves to come on and leave a few word responses across posts occasionally, trolling everyone rudely. That troll is (or trolls are?) incredibly pointless and annoying. And then there are some people who either because they passionately believe it, love trolling, or are foreign bots turn every conversation to some sort of pet topic. In this sub-forum for example there's the person who posts utter nonsense about any religious education - that it's indoctrination and anti-science and blah blah blah. Or the haters of specific top schools. In the AAP forum it's every conversation about TJ devolving into back-and-forth over the admissions policy with the same arguments recited ad nauseam. Some of the sports sub-forums have specific club haters who recite the same claims about certain clubs on every thread. Those posters are also annoying and cloud the substantive discussion. |
Case in point

Yes, to the threads that someone could simply ask google. Also, the large amount of threads by women who complain about their husbands but see no part in their faults. Lastly, I believe approximately half the threads are made up for purposes of keeping people on here. |

“Do you wonder why your relationships in real life are so bad?”
I see you are part of the problem, OP. And it’s “Cue the snarky responses.” 😁 |
| Some people are mean and they hide behind the shroud of anonymity here. |
| Yeah I think a lot of the reason is because it's a completely anonymous forum. |
| Rabid insecurity run amuk. Welcome to DC. |
Maybe they want the snark to get in line. 😉 |
| Sometimes the pins just line up so perfectly you gotta knock ‘em down. I’m honestly enjoying the heck out of the Bullis traffic thread. |
| Because this is like Reddit for housewives. Some comments are generally very helpful. Some are looking for imaginary karma points. |
