Apparently people are panic buying and hoarding it now, because of the port issue? We don’t import paper through ports. Anyway…
Stopped at Target to normal-purchase TP and the lady at the register filled me in. |
DH and I were discussing this yesterday. We aren't concerned with there being actual disruptions to distribution but concerned with panic buying. |
what actual imported products should one be concerned about? |
I decided this time around I'm not going to stress any tp shortages. We'll just use some type of rag remnants or something. I'm over panicking about anything. |
🍌 75% of the country's banana imports 🍒 90% of imported cherries 🥫 85% of canned food 🌶️ 82% of hot peppers 🍫 80% of the nation's imported chocolate 🍷 80% of imported beer, wine, whiskey and scotch 🍹60% of rum Plus: Imported seafood, coffee, car parts, tires, clothes, furniture and electronics could also be affected in the coming weeks. https://www.axios.com/local/richmond/2024/10/03/virginia-port-strike-banana-booze-shortage |
Rats, just when we're out of toilet paper.
Oh well. If worse comes to worse, I'm sure I have some rags somewhere. We'll go super environmentally-friendly ![]() |
ok I can deal with domestic beer, wine, and liquor, but my 5 year old will be quite p*ssed about the lack of bananas. |
We’ve done this before, we will be fine! I’m actually a little worried about clothes, to be honest. I might panic buy some winter essentials for my kids. They don’t fit into anything from last year and I’ve been waiting. |
It's times like these that I'm happy my DH got us a tushy bidet |
So annoying, but people will probably realize that TP is produced domestically and this will blow over quickly. Actual imported goods, on the other hand, are going to be a problem. |
It’s a possibility as well that shelves are low because of panic buying and some being shipped to Asheville area.
|
How much toilet paper do they need? They are less than 1% of the regular consumable toilet paper use. |
*and washing is a more hygienic and greener option |
Im getting tuna (imported), dried fruit, chocolate for baking and vanilla.
Every day of strike is like a week to resolve all the piled up ships. So once warehoused things are gone. Thats it. |
