Mock SAT/ACT

Our school is offering these exams. I understand that it’s an example experience. Can I assume that the scores are not recorded? If I need scores for summer programs, am
I better off just registering my kid for the regular tests?

If you are paranoid, register at a testing center and don't have your kid take them at their school. Mock will give kids idea of where they need to improve or how they may do if it were real tests.

They are generally offered by test prep companies, but held at HSs on weekends, and are not official tests, but instead an opportunity for kids to figure out which test is better for them. So no official record of them and unlikely to be accepted by places looking for actual scores. Unless you are talking about the actual in-school PSAT? That's in the college board records, but not used in college admissions.

At WJ, it’s 9th graders who take the mock exam. It’ll be ACT this year. It will be scored by the test prep company organizing it. There will be no official record of the score and will never be seen by colleges.

At our HS, it's the PTSA that organizes it. My sense is that although these are super nice things for the test prep companies to do, they are also marketing efforts, and so if your school doesn't offer them, perhaps suggest it to the PTSA or call the companies that offer then and see if you can arrange it yourself, whether for your school or just for your kid. Prep Matters and Capital Educators are the companies that have done them at our school.
