Pete Rose died...

Pete Rose died. Now unban him and let him in to the HOF you petty, greedy MLB execs and haughty, useless BBWAA that never lifted a bat even in little league. I mean aren't you even embarrassed, in recent years, with Helton, Mauer, Rolen, Simmons...... and Selig???

I didn’t know he was 83. Sneaky old.

I have a soft spot for Pete Rose. I grew up in Ohio and we used to get to softball practice early to practice sliding like him. I met him at a corporate function a decade ago or so and found him to be kind and humbled. People used to talk about him being charismatic or arrogant or somewhere in between, but I noticed his warmth and his really strong ability to connect with others.

Everyone is flawed but he had the bad luck to have his flaws exposed in a time when it was far easier for celebrities and athletes to hide their mistakes and crimes. I think he would have received more flak but eventually more grace in the era of social media.

The Pete Rose haircut should be memorialized and never repeated again.

That's true for most of us.

They should have one wing of the HOF with a big asterisk over the door and put Bonds, Rose, McGwire, all those guys in there if they get voted in.
