Major Garrett says Adios to Fox News

I remember when Fox was trying to bait the White House in a ploy for ratings and getting deservedly bashed, a number of posters held up Major Garrett as the primary example of journalistic integrity in the network. For example;

Well, today he picked up his integrity and walked away. His parting quotes were, shall we say, tactful. I guess Bill O'Reilly now becomes the voice of reason -- hahahahaha that was funny but true in a really depressing way-- in a cast of lunatics that increasingly resembles a late night infomercial with chyrons. Well, now that their conscience is gone they can just run an 800 number across the bottom of the screen for a perpetual pledge campaign for Fox approved candidates.

I love Major Garrett-sad to see him go. I think though that I would agree more with your attack on FOX if you will also admit that ABC,CBS,CNN,NBC are all on the juice for Democrats. I think he was one of the few who really didn't show his political preference so I will watch him whereever he goes because I like that.

On his better days, Shepard Smith is not too bad. But he really will be all that Fox has left. Anyone who thinks that the other networks are to the Democrats what Fox is to the Republicans simply has no real knowledge of the situation. Even MSNBC, which is supposed to be nearly communist, gives its entire morning to Joe Scarborough and has Pat Buchanan on non-stop. Fox has nothing of the sort.

I don't think that is across-the-board true. There are commentators who have been more pro-democrat. But if you look at analyses of news organizations, they don't show the same level of bias that Fox demonstrates by any means. They are happy to cover Democratic administrations in the same way they do Republican ones, whether it is a scandal or a natural disaster, a war or bad economic news. If there was a brief grace period for Barack Obama, it has been over for some time.
