Physical therapist for hamstring tendon tear

Anonymous

Looking for recommendations for a physical therapist in DC or close in MD suburbs with experience rehabilitating a proximal hamstring tendon tear. Does anyone specialize in hamstrings or tendons? I’m afraid to get someone who knows nothing about this and recommends aggressive stretching when that is the opposite of what should be done.

Try the RAMP in Annandale. Lots of experience with soccer players. Took my DD for hamstring tear recently.

Had to pay out of pocket, they do not take insurance. Also, we watched youtube and started recovery at home. We did all the RICE principles. No sports for 10 days. It worked.

Launch in Gaithersburg may be able to help. They specialize in physical fitness / therapy, and conditioning and some of the staff (including the owner) have medical training. We saw Dr. Wheeler for a different issue (not tendon-related) and she was great. It might get costly, but I believe they may be able to help through the entire recovery journey.

I don’t know about hamstring tendons, but my athlete son and I are both treating different tendon issues at Rehab2Perform. There are different locations in the area, they take insurance, and focus on athletes (though they treat anyone).

There has been zero aggressive stretching for either of us. Focus has been on unloading the tendon to reduce the irritation/flare while building strength.
