Addiction is a horrible disease. Sad, esp for a grandmother who seemed to have it together for quite a while.

None of the Richards women had any chance of becoming normal.

Her sisters have done much better.

Why? Because she made a mistake in where she sent her wild and out-of-control teenage daughter? If yes, why do you say that about her and not her husband?

That, among other things. I think her husband is a monster too, but we're discussing the Richards sisters.

That's very sad. I started re-watching RHOBH earlier this year and I thought I'd only do the first season or two but I just finished season 7 (I put it on while doing other things so I'm not really paying attention). After how awful Lisa Rinna was in that season, however, I can't keep watching. I knew she was terrible when she was on (she was funny for like an episode or two before she turned nasty), but watching it back is somehow worse. She treated Kim really badly and I'm sure she's somewhere laughing about this story.

Big Kathy was the worst. Maybe Nikki can escape the curse

She’s a mess.

That scene in the last season of RHOBH where Kim and Kyle talk in the kitchen and Kim breaks down saying she forgives her mom or understands her mom was so heartbreaking. She bore the brunt of her mom’s abuse- she was a child actress forced to placate men. Who knows what happened to her? Her life story is incredibly sad and we probably will never know the full extent of what she went through.

"Mistake" is too light of a word for sending your child to a place where they were repeatedly sexually abused by adults.

Kyle was always the "leftover sister". Kim got all the praise from her mother as a child for supportIng the household, and Kathy befriended the Jackson family and married a billionaire in her early 20s. She bitterly resents both of her sisters for this, but Kathy is too high status for her to lash out at. So Kim gets the brunt of everything.

It’s truly terrible that this is a new item. Can you imagine if you went on a psychiatric hold and it’s on the front of people magazine? People have some boundaries.

+1. I was a huge Kim Richards fan growing up (Escape to Witch Mountain, James at 16, afterschool specials, and loved when she'd pop up on random shows). At first I was excited for her to be on RHOBH, but as PP said, her life story is incredibly sad. I can only imagine what she went through back then.
