| We're in Tampa Bay - it's windy here, rain is on and off so far. We're hoping we'll keep power. And really thinking of our neighbors to the north - it's unreal what this storm is going to do to them. |
|
Hi! I grew up there. Stay safe.
All that Gulf beach replenishment is going to wash back out I suspect. Beach replenishment is a losing battle now. |
|
Remind me again, why are you in Florida?
I can understand that low-income families cannot afford to move. But the others? |
you're an a$$hole. OP is sending out concern for those in the path of the storm. You are making it about something else. Go away. |
NP. I'm here in the Tampa Bay area, having some hurricane snacks. I live inland. Talk to me again when you have a blizzard heading your way! |
Then why the $uck are you on a Florida page? -not a Florida but also not a massive twatwaffle |
+1 also not Floridian. We will all be affected by more intense weather incidents. Stay safe out there. |
| Doing fine in Sarasota. Nowhere else in the world I'd rather live. Thanks OP for your concern. |
| Feeling grateful right now for our solid house and that we’re only affected by the edge of the hurricane and not getting a direct hit. I can’t even imagine what the panhandle is going through now as this thing makes landfall. |
| Good luck to the Floridians. I’m thinking of you. |
You should be ashamed of yourself. |
|
All is fine here in Destin in the far western part of the panhandle. We are on the "clean" side of the storm and getting some 35 MPH wind gusts, which is no big deal.
A lot of people have evacuated to our area, and our area is where equipment / vehicles / personnel are already here and staged to begin cleanup and rescues as soon as it has passed. |
I grew up North at the end of the Veterans expressway. But I haven’t been back in decades and all my family is gone — but what exactly is going to happen to them, I thought hurricane was going to Tallahassee? |
Yes, the eye of the storm will go over Tallahassee. The eye of the storm is the very center. Strong winds extend at least 100 miles past the eye. The areas to the east of the center of the storm get more wind and rain than the areas to the west of the center of the storm. |
|
This is OP - we're fine, thank goodness, but a lot of people are not. There was - and is - crazy flooding here where we are, and we didn't get a direct hit (or even all that much rain). A lot of people ended up in a very precarious situation here.
One of three sewage treatment plants in the city have shut down so 70,000 people can't flush their toilets for a few days now. Very very VERY grateful that we are ok. The people who are not are going to need a lot of help recovering. |
