Raw (or as granular as possible) test score data for a DCPS school?

Anonymous
I’d like to dig into the test score data for two DCPS schools. I want to see historical data, changes over time, and as many different subgroups as I can. I work in data science (though this is for personal use!) so the more granular the better.

Where can I find this data? The DCPS website is sending me on a wild goose chase. Links please!

OP to clarify - I want to look at two specific schools, so anything aggregated at the city/ward/grade level across the city would not be helpful. School specific only.

https://osse.dc.gov/assessmentresults2024

These spreadsheets are huge but they allow for a very granulated look at each school.

This is the answer but to get historical data you have to grab each year's spreadsheet separately. Also I believe formatting and some subgroup labeling has not been consistent over time so you may have to do some cleaning in order to compare years directly.

For DCPS schools, there is also this data set: https://dcps.dc.gov/node/1157771

I would (and do) look at both this one and the OSSE one, as they have overlapping but not identical information.

Thanks folks this is super helpful!

Can someone explain why the 2022-2023 data contain a subgroup for "Not Econ Dis" (not economically disadvantaged), but the 2023-2024 data do not?

Isn’t it just all minus economically disadvantaged? You have all the data, it’s just a question of presentation. Some years I’ve added the category myself. Other years I’ve been pleasantly surprised to see OSSE has done it for me.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding, but I'm not sure how you can figure out "not economically disadvantaged" from what's there unless you know the number of test takers in each group.

Those spreadsheets show the number of test-takers in each group, except where it’s suppressed.
