I see lots of athlete inspired custom t shirts for sale online that are made by fans

Do the athletes not care that someone is using their name and image to sell t shirts?

I am positive many of these shirts are not official and the athletes are not seeing a penny of the sales.

Do most pro athletes just view this as part of the territory that come with being a pro athlete.

I would post pictures but I do not want to be accused of trying to promote a t shirt I am selling. I am not selling anything.

Just curious as to why the athletes do not pursue legal action?

Most are unauthorized and would be taken down following a complaint. Most would be back up 10 minutes later.

Some athletes do have their own logos and tshirt lines though

Copyrighting your own name and celebrity face is absurd.

People deserve free speech to say "I like X"

I have a friend in the entertainment industry. It's not worth it for her to try to go after all the unofficial merch. It would be a 24/7 job for several people. Plus the negative attention that would come with going after the small little business just trying to make cute merch to her fans. Not worth it.

Plus, in the grand scheme of things she doesn't make a ton from merch.

I would go after all of them. Every single one.
