To the healthcare workers on here: Do important MRI at cademic hospital or community hospital

Anonymous
I’m having an MRI to rule out ovarian cancer. I have 2 options:

-A top academic hospital and draw a random attendinng. I resident will likely read it and the attending will click to sign off
-A community hospital where my doctor can choose the radiologist. Their radiologists don’t see as much as the academic hospitalrads though.

I will ask my doctor. I wanted ask here first because I’ve gotten excellent advice here. Thank you in advance.

Go to Hopkins radiology in Bethesda.

Academic. They likely have better technology with the most up to date software.

DEFINITELY academic. Academic cancer center second opinion confirmed a cancerous spot that the community health center noted as noncancerous / for monitoring. It completely changed the course of my treatment.

Academic. I am a doctor and this is truly a no brainer.

You should also know that you can get a second opinion from a different radiologist.

Also true of pathologists.

Good luck.
