Recommend your vacuum

So I have carpet beetles and need to buy a powerful to help get them all up. I am so disgusted by this. Can anyone recommend their vac. I hear mixed things about dyson. Thanks!

Get a Meihle... In my experience Dysons are a bit crappy.

Also agree, get a Miele. We tried several different vacuums including some highly rated ones from consumer reports but eventually went back to our European roots and got a Miele cansister vacuum and haven't looked back. Not only does it clean really great, it is lighter and easier to use, gets into smaller spaces better than an upright and is not as loud (which means we can vacuum during nap time!) The drawback is that they are expensive... but we spent more over the years on other vacuum that really did not do the job.

I've heard mixed things on Dysons but I do love mine (DC25 all floors). I had a hard time stomaching the price of the Dyson so the Meihle was definitely out. My mom has one and loves it.

Wow I had never heard of carpet beetles before! Good luck with getting those suckers out of there. Another reason I wish we had hard wood floors...

After going through about 6 vacuums in as many years (always consulting Consumer Reports for their recs), we finally got a Dyson. It's been going strong now for about 8 years. And for most of that time we had two golden retrievers, which required pretty much daily vacuuming of their hair tumbleweeds.

I got ours at Costco for about $500 (it was similar to the Animal model).

I agree with the recommendation for a Miele canister vacuum. They are small and lightweight, but powerful. We replaced a 10 year old Kenmore canister with the Miele and have been completely happy with it. (For about the same price, I should say: I think the Kenmore was $400 in 2000 and the Miele was $500 in 2009; the supplies are more expensive for the Miele, though.)

Have had a dyson ball for 5 years now and love it. One toddler and two cats and it's great.

Have used miele's in the past, but I prefer the dyson because it's upright. Of course, if miele made an upright (do they? I have only used non-uprights), I might be persuaded. Then again, miele's are so expensive, I'm not sure I could shell out the money.

Another vote for Miele. Bought one 8 years ago. Works great!
