Anyone remember Baby Einstein for their toddlers?

Anonymous
Mother of 2 sons, who are 20 and 22 right now. My oldest child showed me something that he recalled watching when he was about 2 years old called “Baby Einstein”, which suddenly came to my mind because I had almost all the VHS tapes at the time for my kids at the time.

Has any other parent remember these? I genuinely don’t know if the company is active anymore.

I remember. My kid is 18. It kept him entertained a Little bit. Not sure what ever happened to little Einstein. I might even have the videos.

It was a favorite at our house. Julie Clark came on at the beginning. I think she sold to Disney.

Sure I remember them.

I borrowed a Baby Einstein exersaucer which had a recalled choking hazard toy. Found shreds of plastic in my baby's mouth. Hard to forget that!

We had board books and a huge book that unfolded into a little enclosure for a baby to sit inside and look at pictures. I found it on this Wiki.

I think they started with Baby Mozart. A lot of the ideas were not scientifically valid. So that got out into the public.

I think the trend ran its course. In particular because the stuff was visually garish - loud colors, constant flipping of images, etc. Opposite end of the spectrum from the "sad beige baby" trend that is au courant now.

We had the CDs for car rides.

Definitely. 2004 baby. I have a picture of her in the exersaucer watching a Baby Einstein musical VHS tape on the TV.

Baby Einstein was big around 2004/2005. I also remember tapes called Baby Bumblebee and Teach to Talk.

Okay but that little Einstein ipod/radio toy is still a hit for all babies

The videos and CDs make me laugh now. I guess hey bear on YouTube is this generations version.

Somehow people have been convinced that watching dancing vegetables against a black screen is somehow beneficial to their baby

Ugh. Hated this whole look. Last baby born in 2006 and every other gift we got was Baby Einstein this or that. I gave all of it away immediately.

The dancing fruit and vegetables may not be beneficial to the babies but it sure is beneficial to the parents.

I predict that in the mid-2030s, some clever DJ will remix the hey bear sensory song and it will become THE song of the summer.

My toddlers liked the Baby Einstein tapes, but the product was developed out of the false premise that babies exposed to classical music scored higher on aptitude tests later on. Obviously, once they adjusted for other factors, the scores between those who listened to classical music and those who were exposed to other forms of stimulation were exactly the same. I believe the Little Einsteins TV show was developed by the same company. That was a strange little show because it taught music theory (not a bad topic) which has nothing to do with theoretical physics, Albert Einstein's actual expertise. (Don't get me started on companies that coopt Einstein's name for their product under the guise it makes people smart.)
