stalled

My dd has totally stalled. She has everything filled out, asked for recommendations (few colleges on her list require it, just some reaches), but is refusing to continue with the process. She runs track and does have a busy season. They had a huge meet today but it's been over for many hours. I offered bribes like Starbucks, let's go to the movies after, let's get your favorite pizza when we're done, let's just spend one hour to finish and send a couple apps. She will not hear of it. Some of these do need to go out by October 15th. How much more do I push?

Take a quiet moment with her and ask about her hesitation and how you can help

Good luck, you got this

She has almost a month! Suggest she take this weekend off - no more work on college stuff, no college-related discussions at all.

I am confused. You said "she has everything filled out." What steps are needed?

What is left to do with almost a month to go? I would back off. It sounds like she has it handled.

She needs to actually apply. She is also missing one supplemental essay for one of the October 15 schools which is a safety. It's a "why this school?" essay so not difficult, but she needs to take the time to write it.

She has taken the pas two weekends off. I did not mention it at all last weekend. I understand she's stressed and doesn't want to talk about it endlessly.

Just coming on to say we are in the same boat, OP. Best of luck to you and your DD.

Same boat with DD. She prob has 10 essays to write. Its a battle. If she works for 30 min, you would think she spent hours.

Does she need to apply to the safety that requires another supplement or does she already have a couple safeties on her list? So many students are applying to unnecessarily high numbers of schools.

If all she has left is hitting submit, drop it until at least October 1.

She really does bc she has the types of stats that could go either way at a target, so this so this safety might be where she ends up going.

If everything is filled out except on safety school supplemental, she probably need 30 min for that essa. Maybe two seconds to “actually apply.”

Next time she is going to need the car for something social ... you say ahead of time, "Before taking the car, I need you to work on this for half an hour (whatever amount of time)." And watch. From a distance. See that it happens. If she wants the privilege of using the family car, she will occasionally have to give-in to appeasing some of your anxieties.
