Infertility Support and Discussion

I've been on FSH injections the past 9 days. I have three follicles, 18, 17, 17 as of yesterday. I am taking the HCG injection this morning and we are doing a timed intercourse cycle instead of an IUI this month.
Question is when is the best time for intercourse. I should be a pro at this by now, but am just curious as to what other think and have been told. I was told, if I trigger this morning(around 11am) we should have sex tonight, tomorrow night and the next night. Does that sound right?? I just want this cycle to work! |
My TI instructions from SG were to BD the night of trigger, the following day (optional), and day after. Your instructions sound similar. Good luck!
Interesting...why is the second day optional?? Do they think you will have ovulated that close to the trigger?
I did a LOT of timed intercourse cycles and I tried to bd soon after trigger (within 12 hours), and then again somewhere around 36 hours after or so. I could usually feel myself ovulate at around 42 hours after trigger, so anything after that seemed unnecessary. But if you don't feel that, it can't hurt to go again. So tonight and tomorrow night should be perfect.
I think the one that was optional was based on timing. You want to BD at trigger to get some swimmers up ahead of ovulation and the one on the second day after trigger is based on the 36 hour window for ovulation (since they typically have you trigger at night). So, the one in between is a bonus and therefore optional. Since you are triggering in the AM, then I agree with PP about BD tonight and tomorrow night. Unless, of course, you just want to have fun on Friday!

OP here...Thanks for your input ladies!! I've been racking my brain. In the past they have had me trigger in the evening and I feel like we miss the window with TI, unless we're doing an IUI.
They are doing the trigger in the morning so we can get better timing with TI. Fingers crossed and good luck to everyone else too! |
Yes, I agree, I think the morning trigger time really helps with timing the intercourse most appropriately. (Unless you're morning people!)
I would love to be morning people, but my weekday 5am wake up time does not help us! We'd have to get up at like 3am!!!
I did this successfully a few months ago - but was traveling out of town, so we just had to take what we got. I triggered just before midnight on a Thursday and had sex Saturday afternoon - so 36 hours later. Obviously, it's better to try more than once per cycle - but just letting you know that anecdotally 36 hours after can work. Good luck!
NP here, I triggered tonight per my RE's instructions. The nurse said to BD sat and sun but didn't say when. If I triggered tonight should we bd in the morning sat and sun or evening?
Like I said earlier, I think 12 and 36 hours is ideal, but if you can do it more than that, go for it! I think by Sunday night, it's unlikely to be as useful though.
12, 24 and 36 hours covers it. If you can only do two times I would say 12 and 36 hours like PP poster said.
