Random thoughts: The Glass Castle was really interesting and beautifully written.
Evicted should be required reading— it shows how horrific our housing crisis is. It’s probably one of the most important/impactful books I have read. Same with the New Jim Crow and the Warmth of Other Suns. I liked Trick Mirror and generally think Tolentino is a good/interesting writer. I really like Lindy West too but did not read the one listed there. I want to read Braiding Sweetgrass. I really disliked/was disturbed by the author of Sociopath in recent interviews I read with her (well, she is a literal sociopath) and chose not to read it. I almost felt like I didn’t want to give her the attention she’s seeking. Maybe someone can prove me wrong. |
| The Warmth of Other Suns might be the best book I’ve ever read. Certainly far and away the best nonfiction. |
I loved The Warmth of other Suns as well but am surprised she didn’t also list Caste by the same author. |
| The Glass Castle is one of the best books I’ve ever read. Thanks for posting, will put others of these on my list. |

OP here. Appreciate the recommendations.
Ones recommended here and from others that I'll put them on my list: The Glass Castle The Warmth of Other Suns Braiding Sweetgrass Ones I started that maybe I'll try again: Evicted The New Jim Crow |
| I loved Maybe You Should Talk To Someone. I recently read Sociopath and thought it started off really fascinating but fizzled by the end. |
| Thanks so much for posting this list. I've only read two -- The Glass Castle and Between the World and Me -- both of which were excellent and I would recommend them to anyone. I only got about 20 pages into Braiding Sweetgrass before I got bored and DNF, but I might try again; I've DNF'd many books and then tried again later and loved them. |

25) The Warmth of Other Suns, by Isabel Wilkerson
One of the best books I’ve ever read. A masterpiece. |
| Yes, a lot of these books are good but almost all are really depressing or stressful. |
Yes, Oprah’s books are butt. |
